Tournament Rules 2017

  1. Entry fee is $110 per boat. Entry fee after June 1, 2017 is $120 per boat.  Entry fees are non-refundable. Registration closes with the commencement of the Captain’s Meeting on June 16th. The one fishing day is Saturday, June 17th. The Tournament will reserve the right to hold Sunday, June 18th, as an optional foul weather day. Four hours of fishing on any one day constitutes a day of fishing. This tournament does not have any boundaries. Tournament boat number must be displayed on the boat in a prominent place during the fishing hours.
  2. Tournament participants must comply with all Local, State, and Federal rules and regulations including license requirements and boat capacity, subject to disqualification. Eligible species are: red bass, speckled sea trout, and flounder.  All fish must meet federal and state size requirements.  Only one fish of each species per boat may be weighed in.  All fish must be caught on hook and line with rod and reel from the registered boat, one line per angler.  Special exceptions may be granted by the Rules Committee, in advance of the Captain’s Meeting, on requests made for a physically challenged angler. Any type of bait is allowed. Submission of undersized fish will result in disqualification of boat.
  3. Prizes will be awarded for 1st through 3rd on a slam of all three species (Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder), and 1st through 3rd for each individual species. Boats will be eligible for one prize only, and will automatically be placed in the best available payout. In the event of identical weights, the first fish weighed shall be declared the winner.

  1. Fishing Hours: Fishing, defined as lines in the water, will begin at safe light (civil twilight) and weigh in closes at 4pm. Check out will begin at safe light by visual, cell phone or VHF on the designated tournament channel. 
  2. Weigh-in begins at 2:00 PM at the designated area of Beach Marine. Weigh-in closes at 4:00 pm.  You must be in the weigh-in line by 4:00 PM to weigh your catch.    A chip board located at the weigh in will be utilized to determine weigh in eligibility/closure.

  3. All boats must check in with the Tournament Committee in person or by cell phone whether fishing or not. All participants must comply with Coast Guard regulations, equipment and instructions. This is a family tournament and alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
  4. The tournament’s weather call will be made at 6:00 AM the morning of the tournament by the Weather Committee. Announcement will be made at the site and via VHF on the designated tournament channel.
  5. This is an all release format. All fish submitted for weigh-in should be live and eligible for release. There will be a 0.10 lb. deduction per fish for weighing in dead fish.  All registered non-motorized craft (kayaks, canoes, etc.) are exempt from the 0.10 lb. weight deduction for dead fish.  The decision of the weigh-master will be final.
  6. Protests: All protests must be in writing within 15 minutes of the close of weigh-in, accompanied by a $100 cash deposit.  If protest is upheld, the deposit will be refunded.  The Tournament’s Rules Committee will review all protests and their decision shall be final and binding.
  7. All entrants agree to submit to a polygraph at the request of the Tournament. The results of the polygraph will be considered by the Tournament’s Rules Committee, along with any relevant information, which in their sole discretion will determine whether the entrant will be disqualified.  Failure to submit to such an examination will result in disqualification of the entrant at the sole discretion of the Tournament’s Rules Committee. Participants enter the tournament at their own risk.  The Tournament Committee, its officials or members shall not be liable for and hereby disclaim any liability for any and all losses, damages or injuries of any kind suffered by any participants, entrants, anglers, their guests and companions, boat captains, vessels and equipment which may occur during the tournament, including the weigh-in location at Beach Marine. All captains and crewmembers are responsible for reading, following, and abiding by all rules and regulations as contained herein and as may be promulgated by the Tournament’s Rules Committee and by signing the entry form agree to abide by the rules and terms thereof.
  8. The Junior Angler (JA) division is for the encouragement of youthful fishermen to experience the thrill of striking and fighting a fish without the unnecessary aid of any other person. The JA division is open to kids aged 4-15 on the Tournament day. Each Junior Angler must be fishing with a registered captain in the general tournament and must have a completed entry form before the close of registration at the Captain’s Meeting. All rules outlined in the general tournament apply unless amended by the Tournament Committee. Only 1 fish per Junior Angler may be weighed in and that fish may not be weighed in addition to the general tournament. No penalty will be assessed to a Junior Angler for a dead fish. Eligible species is any fish legal by State or Federal regulation and winners will be determined by weight. The JA should be accompanied by an adult through the entire weigh-in process.
